POSITION PURPOSE: The Program Manager for the LA Conservatory plans, organizes, and manages all resources and daily functions of the LA Conservatory and supports the LA Local team in the implementation of all related initiatives.

  • Manage and find ways to improve and optimize the AFI Fellows student project casting process. This includes working with AFI student directors to schedule their auditions, cast their projects, and training them on SAG-AFTRA signatory agreements, and other duties as required.
  • Oversee maintenance of the LA Conservatory membership database, class lists, attendance and enrollment history for workshops.
  • Manage the LA Conservatory’s educational programs including enrollment, development of curriculum, and workshop logistics.
  • Create and publish content for The Focus newsletter and email blasts for LA Conservatory events and programs.
  • Serve as a SAG-AFTRA staff liaison to the LA Conservatory Committee. This includes handling all committee correspondence, supporting the committee chairs and assisting with meeting agendas, yearly budgets, and other governance department requests.
  • Create and oversee the LA Conservatory budget. Approve expenditures.
  • Supervise and schedule SAG-AFTRA volunteers. Assign tasks and co-manage LA Local Administrative Coordinator.
  • Oversee the operations of the LA Conservatory office located at the American Film Institute. This includes maintenance of files and supplies, daily phone and written correspondence regarding the LA Conservatory and other duties as requested. Review and ensure that all department functions and processes are documented, updated, and utilized for the purposes of training, retraining, and process improvement.
  • Serve as a SAG-AFTRA liaison to the American Film Institute for coordination of usage of their space and working with AFI staff.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong positive relationships with LA Conservatory members, committee members and chairs, instructors, AFI staff and students and SAG-AFTRA departments. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a casting office and/or contractual experience required.
